music had then a spititual and sacred nature ; the drum symbolized the center
of the world, making it possible to the drummer/wizard to communicate with the
spirits.
Its
evolution will be always closely related to that of the Jazz ; for Kenny Clarke
(pioneer of the Be Bop drum in the Forties), the drums are even the "mover"
of its evolution.
